From Tool Sharpening to Precision Measuring Equipment Engineering
RGC Engineering was established in Johannesburg in 1960 as a small toolmaking business. At the time, the company operated two tool and cutter grinders and provided a sharpening service to local engineering firms.
This focused service created the foundation for a business built around precision, reliability, and practical engineering expertise. As demand grew and our technical capabilities developed, RGC Engineering evolved into a high-precision Metrology company.
Our activities expanded beyond sharpening to include the design and manufacture of specialised engineering products. These capabilities included:

Our Kew Metrology, Sales, and Technical Facility
As RGC Engineering grew, our present premises in Kew, Johannesburg, were developed to support the company’s future expansion.
The Stand 700 property consists of a 5,275-square-metre building, of which RGC Engineering currently occupies approximately 2,000 square metres. This facility accommodates our Metrology, Sales, Inspection, Repair, Technical, training, and administrative activities while providing space for continued growth.
Operating from an established local facility allows us to support South African clients with access to technical expertise, product knowledge, live demos, and practical engineering services.
Our Johannesburg location also places us within one of the country’s major industrial and manufacturing regions, enabling us to serve companies across Gauteng and throughout South Africa.
